Course Description:

Prepare for entry level employment in the automotive industry. Learn lab safety, tool identification, precision measurement, and engine operation. Maintenance, tune-up, diagnostics and troubleshooting of ignition and electronic fuel injection systems, brakes, standard transmissions and clutch and lubrication systems will also be covered.

Job opportunities in this occupation are expected to be very good for persons who complete automotive training programs in high school along with additional post-secondary education such as in vocational or technical schools, or community colleges as employers report difficulty in finding workers with the right skills. Persons with good diagnostic and problem-solving abilities, and whose training includes basic career development skills as well as electronics and computer courses have the best opportunities.
