Java Programming

Course Description:

This course is designed to introduce students to study and writing of computer programs with emphasis on understanding and solving problems. We will study the Java Language, emphasizing on Internet programming. Students will learn structured as well as object-oriented methods of programming. Analytical thinking skills and logic as well as an elementary study of digital computer hardware are included.  Students will develop the ability to design a well-structured, documented and tested program. This course is recommended for college bound student planning on a business, math, or science major or for the student preparing for an AP Computer Science course or Scientific Research & Technical Services.

Demand for programmers with strong object-oriented programming capabilities and technical specialization in areas such as client/server  programming, wireless applications, multimedia technology, and graphic user interface (GUI)should arise from the expansion of intranets,extranets, and Internet applications. Growingemphasis on cyber-security will lead to increased demand for programmers as well.
