Course Description:

This course prepares students to work in television and video production. Classroom instruction covers basic studio, news, and electronic field production techniques including cuts-only editing, news writing, camera operations, field reporting, audio operations, anchoring, studio directing, computer graphics, writings, and producing. Students learn to operate VCR cameras, audio equipment, and lighting and editing equipment. The course is divided into two phase consisting of lecture and hands-on studio work. Student projects consist of music, sports, news, talk show, and concert video production.

Job Outlook:  Rapid expansion of the entertainment market, especially motion picture production and distribution, will spur growth of camera operators. Computer and Internet services will provide new outlets for interactive productions. Camera operators will be needed to film made-for-the-Internet broadcasts, such as live music videos, digital movies, sports features, and general information or entertainment programming.
